What is the state’s motto? ______________________________________________________
Nevada is a state in the west where 86% of the land is actually owned by the US Federal Government. Oregon and Idaho are north of it, Utah is to the east, New Mexico is to the southeast, and California is to the west/southwest. Nevada is a tourist region for both adults and families alike.
When most people hear ‘Nevada’, they think about Las Vegas. Even though this might be the most popular city in Nevada, it is not its state capitol. It is well known for its casinos and nightlife. The Las Vegas Strip is the highlight of these kinds of attractions and is actually not even in the City of Las Vegas! The main strip passes through the towns of Paradise and Winchester.
The MGM Grand Las Vegas is said to be the third largest hotel in the world as well as the largest hotel in the United States. The gaming (gambling) floor of the MGM Grand covers 171,500 square feet (15,930m²). It features more than 2,500 machines and 139 poker and table games. The MGM Grand brings in some of the highest revenue in the gaming industry and brought in $7.85 billion in 2011.
If you don’t want to lose all of your money in the casinos and are looking for a more family fun vacation, then Nevada has something for you, too! There are lots of shows that you can go to in Las Vegas, but that is not all that Nevada has to offer. You can go on a “dam tour” at the famous Hoover Dam. It is the second tallest dam in the United States. If you love the great outdoors, then you can also visit the beautiful Red Rock Canyon and go kayaking or hiking.
