Wyoming is one of the most adventurous state in the country! The world famous Yellowstone National Park is full of beautiful nature. One of the most famous attractions in Yellowstone National Park is ‘Old Faithful’, a geyser that erupts almost every 91 minutes. It is highly predictable and can shoot boiling water 106 to 185 feet (32 to 56 m) into the air! It’s an amazing sight to see, but it’s not all that the world’s first national park has to offer.
Other than the world’s largest collection of geysers, Yellowstone has many different types of animals. People should be careful when trying to view the animals, because they are wild. This means that they are not like animals at the zoo and will act the way that nature wants them to act. In Yellowstone, you can see the following animals: bears, bison, elk, wolves, bobcats, moose, deer, squirrels, rabbits, otters, and beavers. Those are just the mammals! There are also many different kinds of birds, fish, and amphibians as well.
Wyoming is not only important for its nature, but it was also important for women in politics. It was the first state in the U.S. to allow women to vote. This happened even before Wyoming became a state! Once it came into the Union, Wyoming also had the first female governor. ‘Women’s suffrage’, the right of women to vote and to run for political office, would eventually go to the US government and would become the Nineteenth Amendment so that women had the right to vote.
Another great activity to do in Wyoming is to go to a rodeo. The Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo is an event that happens every year in the town of Casper. There, you can see real cowboys ride horses, wrestle and rope steer, and watch bull riding competitions. You can also go on carnival ride, see arts & crafts, and buy a pair of authentic cowboy boots. An adventure is definitely waiting for you in Wyoming!
