She came to the United States 3 months ago. She had to leave most of her photography equipment in Cuba, because she needed to cross the border into the United States on her I-94 visa via The Cuban Adjustment Act of 1996. She's now studying English and she's working on building her network here in California. At this moment, she's very interested in society, immigration, and ethno-photography. She wants to raise $1300 so that she can purchase some equipment. Once she has the equipment, she has planned an ethno-photography project with other newcomers. She wants to help them share their stories through a picture and one simple question: Why did you come here? This project is really important to her, because it will be her first big project here in the US and it will give her the chance to gather stories that are similar to her own. She also wants to help elevate their stories to share with the American people, too
