Free Write: Spontaneous Speech


Spontaneous Speech Topics
Use this collection of Speech Topics as part of an impromptu oral presentation activity or free writing activity. An impromptu oral presentation can be a bit nerve racking for a student, so make sure that you set reasonable time limits for answering a question. Put all of the topics on slips of paper and have your students pick one at random. 
  1. You are an ant. Convince an anteater to not eat you. 
  2. Tell us about a nickname you have and how you got it.
  3. Convince us to vote for you as president of the USA.
  4. Convince us that homework is bad for your health.
  5. You are a salesperson. Trying selling us the shirt you have on.
  6. What is the meaning of life?
  7. Explain how a smart person might not be wise.
  8. If you were the teacher, how would our class be different?
  9. Tell us about one of the hardest things you ever had to do. 
  10. You are asked to go on a mission to destroy an asteroid. Explain how you are going to do it, or why you should not go.
  11. You are a mad scientist. Tell us about your latest invention.
  12. Tell us about the best job in the world.
  13. Explain why its good to drink milk.
  14. Tell us how to become a millionaire.
  15. Tell us what life would be like if you were a dog or a cat.
